This minigame has two phases. The first phase of this minigame involves the Heroes on the run saving as many Bots as possible while dodging debris from the buildings the Monster destroys with its head. The second phase involves a boss fight between the Heroes and the Monster. The VR 4 have to throw many objects (Amount depends on how many Bots the Heroes rescue in the first phase) at the Monster until four lights of the visor break. The Monster must defeat the VR 4 by dodging the objects and knock out the helicopters onto the platforms to sink them.

Ghost House[]

In Ghost house, the VR player must follow directions given by the audience to catch ghosts - the VR player cannot see these ghosts, however, the audience can and must therefor assist the VR player. The VR player uses both the headset and a controller to play, while audience will not use controllers.

Downloadable content[]

There's only one free addon of The Playroom VR, which was less than in The Playroom.

Toy Wars[]

Toy Wars is a co-op minigame. The player using the visor and controller must defend from and shoot the aliens, while other players will play as big mecha forms of the VR 4 from Monster Escape (The red hero doesn't get to play as the red controller is used by the VR player). This minigame has a boss fight, where players must defeat the Pixel UFO.

Trivia[]

  • The Playroom VR is not compatible with the PlayStation VR 2 when ported to the PlayStation 5, as PSVR2 only uses the Sense controllers instead of using the Dualsense as a Dualshock 4.
  • Both combat themes from the Monster Escape and Toy Wars minigames have the same bpm and length of loop, as both games are themed around the VR 4.
  • In Astro's Playroom, there are bots playing Monster Escape from The Playroom VR under an igloo in the final section of GPU Jungle.
  • The Cat And Mouse minigame's tracks are reused for Downside Surprise, Luna Sola, Rolling Star Luna, and Rolling Star Sola in Astro Bot.
  • The Ghost House's minigame's music is reused for Light Bulb Limbo in Astro Bot.
  • The title theme of the Mini Bots minigame is reused at the end of Furnace Fever in Astro Bot.
  • The Robots Rescue minigame's music is remixed for Winter Wonder in Astro Bot. Additionally, the music from the minigame when the Bots run away from the enemies is reused at the end of Spooky Time.
  • This game introduced elements that would become staples in the Astro Bot series, such as the character and concept of Astro Bot, the Gacha machine, and the giant bosses (as seen in Cat and Mouse, Monster Escape, and Toy Wars).
  • It's implied that the VR-Player is called "VR-Bob", as shown by the back of their head in the minigame selection screen.
