Falcon McFly is the third boss of Astro Bot Rescue Mission and the fifth boss of Astro Bot.
Appearance[]
In Rescue Mission, Falcon McFly is a giant bird who, unlike other bosses, is more biological than mechanical. Its main color is dark purple but it noticeably has other colors as well.
It has orange and red around the end of its neck and primary and secondary coverts of its wings. It has white on its chest and legs. It also has blue and pink on the end of each of its wings.
The only things that seem mechanical are its gray metal eyelids, yellow legs, sharp black talons and its yellow beam with a gray tip.
Its head seems to have a visible bump which can be seen through an opening in its yellow helmet. It also seems to wear aviation goggles.
In Astro Bot, its main color changed to dark blue and so did its goggles. Its wings also become mechanical with each joint being black bolts. It also no longer has light blue feathers and has no orange feathers around its neck and the white feathers on its chest were replaced with lavender feathers with orange at the sides.
The primary and secondary converts of its wings are also lavender instead of orange but the end of each wing still have white on them. At the center of each of its wings are mechanisms that are protected by screwed lid.
The tip of its beak is now black and its yellow helmet also seems to have the same mechanism like the center of its wings, but unlike the mechanisms on its wings, the helmet will break once the mechanism meets contact with metal objects. Other than those, its mechanical neck is now visibly extendable.
Walkthrough[]
After rescuing enough Bots to unlock 3-5, Little Birdie, the level starts off with Astro traversing some platforms while avoiding bird minions flying at him, all the while trying not to fall into the cloudy abyss below. Eventually, Astro will reach an island with trees on it. The trees won't last long, though. Falcon will soon swoop over the player, blowing them away and getting bird poop on the player's visor. It will fly up in front of the player and look at Astro through the goggles on its helmet. It will flip its goggles up and screech, beginning the boss fight.
Boss fight[]
Astro Bot Rescue Mission - Falcon McFlyās only way of killing Astro is by using its wings to tilt the platform and firing bird minions at him in an attempt to send Astro falling into the cloudy abyss. If this fails, it will fly up in front of the player and attempt to peck Astro. When this happens, stand on the target, and dodge its peck marker when it turns red. McFly will get its beak stuck in the target, after which you must use the rope gadget to grapple onto its goggles and have Astro punch the glass until it eventually breaks, damaging it.
After each hit, McFly will move to a different platform, and Astro must get to the platform by jumping onto leaf platforms scattered around the area, while avoiding bird minions and trying not to fall off. Once you reach the main platform, the cycle will repeat with the exception of a dome protecting the target. Do the same thing as the first time, and repeat again. Once you reach the third platform, electricity becomes an issue, so watch out.
Eventually, McFly will get its beak stuck one last time, which prompts the player to attach the rope gadget to its helmet and have Astro punch the red bump behind the helmet's hatch. Once the bump has been punched enough times, the bird will reel back in pain while the rope gadget detaches and its helmet flies off. The helmet will slam itself back on the bird's head, sending the bump out further, and shocking it with one final weak quack. McFly plummets into the cloudy abyss below, ending the fight. Defeating McFly rewards the player with the Teriyaki trophy.
Astro Bot - Falcon McFly is hit on the head by Muteki, triggering the beginning of the boss fight on its chest as it flies on its back. It will first screech before beginning the boss fight. Once it begins, McFly will start off by spitting out two Peepers and two Jab-Jabs. After a few seconds, McFly will prepare to peck at you, but before it does, Astro must be in his ball form using the Muteki, once its beak makes contact with Astro, revert to normal form, this will cause McFly to stagger and make its flapping wings stationary, giving you the chance to go to one of its wings to unscrew the lid covering the mechanism, but take note that every time it stops flapping, it will spew out fiery metal balls in all directions that can only be dodged by turning into your ball form. Once you manage to unscrew the lid, turn to ball form so you can press the mechanism which will cause it to flip and Astro will land on its back and so will a few enemies. To complete a phase, you have to go on its neck, use the bouncer on the back of its helmet, turn into ball form, and land on its helmet, causing a bit of it to break.
The only things different on the second and third phase is that in the second phase, itāll spit out a few rolling birds like in Rescue Mission before spitting out three Bolter enemies that Astro has to kill before McFly spews out fiery metal pellets again and starts pecking Astro. When it stops flapping, instead of immediately spewing out fiery pellets, itāll first spew out a few Jab-Jabs. Hitting its helmet will cause it to lose its goggles, expose a few parts of its helmet such as its springs, and its eyes will also show red veins.
On the third phase, itāll immediately spew out fiery pellets before spewing out a few more rolling birds. After the rolling birds, it spews out four Peepers and two Jab-Jabs and after a few seconds, itāll spew out an even bigger rolling bird before doing its fiery beak attack. When it stops flapping its wings, itāll immediately spew its fiery pellets before spewing out two red Jab-Jabs and two Peepers. After you hit its helmet for the third time, it finally breaks. McFly then becomes dizzy and its bump is now visible. To end the boss fight, you have to hit its bump repeatedly, causing it to fall and land on a nest, ending the boss fight. Kick the green nest with the egg to get the Aloy Bot to end the level.
Repeat two times to end the fight. Be eal the Aloy bot.
