Asobi is a recurring flying robot who appears in The Playroom, The Playroom VR and Astro Bot.
History[]
The Playroom[]
Asobi makes his first appearance in The Playroom, where he has his own mode in which he appears in the room of the player and can be interacted with. Asobi can x-ray the player and can be tickled or attacked. If Asobi is punched, his eyes turn red and he antagonizes the player by either freezing the player's head, lighting them on fire, or shocking them. Asobi also displays information and instructions for other minigames.
The Playroom VR[]
Asobi appears at the end of minigames to take pictures. He plays a much smaller role than in the original game.
Astro Bot[]
Asobi makes his third appearance after being absent from Astro Bot Rescue Mission and Astro's Playroom in Astro Bot. In this game, he appears in the Crash Site after the mothership alters the landscape, and can call over bots rescued by Astro Bot to help perform various tasks throughout the site. This action is required to progress through the game as it is needed to reach and excavate the satellite more than once.
Etymology[]
Asobi is a misspelling of the Japanese word for play (éć¶)'s pronunciation, "asobu".
